THE STORM ENDS WITH JESUS

THE LIGHT 5

22nd October 2026

Alex Buabeng-Korsah

TOPIC: THE STORM ENDS WITH JESUS

THEME SCRIPTURE: "And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down." (Matthew 14:32, NIV)

PREPARATORY QUESTION
Are you asking Jesus to remove the storm, or to come into it with you?

Peter did not walk back alone. Jesus held him, and together they climbed into the boat. Only then did the wind die down.

Read the order carefully. The storm did not stop so that Jesus could come. Jesus came, and then the storm stopped. Throughout the night, the waves were real. The boat was still far from shore. What changed was that Jesus was now with them.

Then the disciples did something new. They worshiped Him and said, "Truly you are the Son of God" (Matthew 14:33). Hours earlier they had cried out in fear. Now they bowed in awe.

Three things stand out:

- Jesus does not always remove the storm first. He often walks into it and changes us before He changes the weather.
- Failure did not exclude Peter. He sank, yet he sat in the same boat as the others, and he worshiped too.
- Storms can deepen worship. The disciples knew Jesus better at dawn than they did at dusk.

You may be praying only for calm. Pray for His intimate presence as well. A quiet sea with a distant Christ is poorer than a rough sea with Him close.

When the wind finally drops, do not move on too quickly. Stop and worship. Name what He did. That is how your faith grows from one storm to the next.

Key Takeaway
Jesus' presence matters more than the storm's removal. Meeting Him in the hard place leads to deeper worship and stronger faith.

Beloved, today, thank Jesus for one past storm He brought you through. Sincerely worship aloud, and let it fuel your trust in the current one.

God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
1. Have you been asking for calm more than for Christ?
2. How did a past storm change the way you know Him?
3. What act of worship can you offer Him today, before the wind drops?

PRAYER
Father, I want You more than I want comfort. I receive You into my boat. Steady me in the storm, and let me know You better through my storms. When the wind drops, keep me kneeling, worshipping Jesus, Son of the living God. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
